Online Bingo Deposit Methods
Online bingo is big business and a variety of different payment options is a key consideration for all the operators in today’s marketplace. While debit and credit cards are standard for most people, some players prefer to use Paypal or other secure forms of online payment. Most online bingo sites offer a number of different deposit methods and if you’re a seasoned bingo player, you will know all about them. For those of you that aren’t, here we explain the various methods that are available.
A debit card is arguably the most straightforward way of depositing and withdrawing cash to and from your online bingo account. Debit cards are linked directly to the player’s bank account and allow for speedy deposits. There should also be little to no delay when making a withdrawal via this method. William Hill and all other well known bingo operators accept Debit cards as the deposit method.
Working in a very similar way to a debit card, a credit card gives the user the option of making online bingo deposits on credit, with the balance to be paid at a later date. It makes no difference to the merchant, they receive their money immediately, but the lender allows the card user a month’s grace before applying interest charges. It’s worth noting that some bingo sites might add a surcharge when using this method of payment.
Paypal is one of the most popular ways to pay for online shoppers, and it’s fast become a preferred method for bingo players also. Paypal allows a debit or credit card as well as a bank account to be linked which in turn allows transactions to be made through Paypal. More and more online bingo sites are accepting Paypal as a deposit method. Betfair Bingo and William Hill Bingo are the best brands when it comes to online bingo deposits using paypal.
Working in a similar way to Paypal, Neteller has been the preferred method of payment transaction for online gambling sites for a number of years now. Although they have exited the US market, Neteller still serves millions of customers around the globe.
Based in London, Ukash is an electronic money system which offers customers an option to exchange cash for a secure code. This can then be used to make payments to online merchants, including deposits at various bingo websites. As one of the fastest growing companies in the UK, Ukash can be trusted as a secure payment method.
Another electronic payment method, Paysafe card is used by a number of online bingo merchants and works via a PIN code which can be bought and used multiple times. Paysafecard are based in based in Vienna, Austria and were founded in 2000.

Gala Coral are reportedly reading themselves for a stock market flotation by putting their bingo clubs
up for sale for a fee reported to be in the region of £250m. According to The Times newspaper, the
company have employed the services of an investment bank who have suggested the sale of the bingo chain to pave the way for a stock market listing which will free up funds to improve the business model. A flotation has been rumoured for quite some time now, and it could see the group valued at more than £2 billion.
Although online bingo has thrived in recent times, bingo halls have struggled somewhat and Gala’s bingo arm has suffered amid difficult recent trading. This could be partly down to the growth of online bingo, where players can enjoy the same game and connection with other players via online chat, without needed to leave the comfort of their own home. Gala’s figures for the third quarter to July 6 showed Gala Bingo’s underlying earnings dropping by more than one fifth, down 21% to £11.9 million with admissions falling by as much as six per cent.
The Rank Group who own Mecca Bingo, did put out a cautionary statement in the summer, warning of the impact the good weather might well have on the bingo industry. That has proved to be true, with players choosing to stay away from stuffy bingo halls during the hot spell and profits dropping seriously as a result. While Gala’s bingo halls look likely to be sold, the company will probably retain the online element of their bingo business as that continues to hold its own in a very competitive online market.
Gala Coral made revenues of £1.19billion in its last financial year and have a strong presence in the online betting industry throughout Europe. Online bingo, sports betting and casino make up the majority of the company’s interests and although they have sold most of their UK Casino’s to the Rank Group, Gala still have a huge online customer base. It will be interesting to see whether any sale of their bingo halls has a knock on effect for Gala’s online bingo business.
